With Steez, From Paris: M+RC Noir Spring/Summer 2018 Lookbook Starring Playboi Carti

Playboi Carti told us on his hit single “Magnolia” what he does when in New York, and now we have an idea of his Paris activities thanks to the new spring/summer 2018 lookbook from Parisian clothing brand M+RC Noir.

The collection features a range of stylish summer-ready gear, including lightweight jackets, track pants, carry-alls and classic hoodies branded with M+RC Noir embroidery. It’s generally a streetwear set, but some pieces can definitely claim the sportswear tag due to the breathable nylon and cotton materials used throughout. It doesn’t hurt that Carti’s 6’2″ frame makes the clothes look so good, either.

The M+RC Noir Spring/Summer 2018 Collection goes on sale starting June 20 in HYPEBEAST’s HBX webstore.

Words by Kyra Donahoo

Spring semester is behind us, and now it’s time to dive into all those summer antics we’ve all been holding off on. In doing so, it’s only right to be on your grind in style with Nike’s latest AF-1 backpacks.

The days of carrying multiple totes to accommodate your overload are no more, as the new carryall eliminates that hassle with its spacious compartments. Similar to Under Armour’s SC30 Backpack, the release offers four monochromatic bags, decked out in “Coral Stardust/Red Stardust,” “Black,” “Vast Grey/Atmosphere Grey,” and “Muted Bronze” colorways that make for a versatile accessory men and women can both appreciate. The rucksack is highlighted by the main compartment with adjacent sleeve pockets, in addition, a drawstring cord and two buckles to firmly secure one’s items. Nike’s adjustable padded shoulder straps give us a comfortable experience with the barrier of weight practically feeling non-existent.

Looking to cop Nike’s AF-1 to switch up your wardrobe a bit? Head over to Finish Line to purchase the bags for $85 USD.

Branded: This New Air Max 97 Is Covered In Logos

Logos have been a focal point for Nike this year. Few companies can cover their products in logos and still be desired by customers.

The latest Air Max 97 puts a stealthy spin on logo covered products. At first glance, you may think its just a blacked out 97 with red accents but when you take a closer look, limitless logos are revealed. Matte black Nike spell-out logos dominate the upper, thus making for an interesting contrast against the black sneaker.

Meanwhile, red swooshes decorate the midsole and tongues. Red is also used on the Air Max branding which covers the signature pull tabs. You may be eager to get your feet in these so you can slip into incognito mode but you’ll have to be patient considering they haven’t been released to the U.S. market yet.

However, they have already been released overseas at select retailers. When they do make it to the U.S., expect to pay $160 USD.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen the swoosh brand experiment with logos. The “Just Do It” pack for the Air Max 95 also featured multiple logo variations.

Update: Jay-Z Announced as Puma’s New Creative Director

Recently Puma captured the eyes of sneaker and basketball enthusiasts worldwide after signing some of the top NBA draft prospects to what are assumed very lucrative deals. In a move that is sure to turn even more heads, Complex reports Puma’s return to hoops will be led by JAY-Z as their president of basketball operations.

“We’ve been working with Roc Nation for quite some time. They’ve been great partners to us for several years. We’ve done many different deals with many different ambassadors,” Adam Petrick, Puma’s global director of brand and marketing, said in a statement.

The report states President Carter will assist in everything the brand will do from picking players to brand direction and design. The relaunch of the division for Puma includes the signings of Arizona’s Deandre Ayton, Texas Tech’s Zhaire Smith, and Duke’s Marvin Bagley III.

“It’s clear that we’re looking at basketball through the lens of culture, and thinking about the fashion of basketball, the music of basketball, all the aspects of culture around basketball as much as the on court presence that we will have,” Petrick shared.

Ayton, who is widely considered to be the first pick of this draft, spoke on joining Puma with Bleacher Report stating he felt a level of comfort with the brand due to his mother’s comfort with some staff members of the brand along with it being the best deal.

“Nike is Nike. Adidas is Adidas. I’ve played in their circuits and stuff like that, but now it’s a business. You don’t want just product. You’re not a kid anymore. You’re really trying to get bank,” Ayton added.

Bagley III’s deal is reportedly for the next five-years and at the time considered to be the biggest for a rookie since Kevin Durant inked with Nike.

The first drop from the relaunch of the basketball line of Puma comes in the form of 73 limited edition pairs of the sneaker worn by NBA Legend Walt Clyde Frazier today in Brooklyn, as reported by ESPN’s Darren Rovell.

It will be interesting to see what the Puma Basketball team achieves with this rookie class and during the upcoming season with Hov at the helm. Be sure to check back with TheSource.com for further updates.

Update: ESPN Darren Rovell reports Jay-Z role with Puma is actually Creative Director instead of President of Basketball Operations as originally reported.

UPDATE: Jay Z has not signed up for the role of president of Puma Basketball. The contract he signed was for creative director.

Alpha Industries Kicks Off Its ‘Hero Series’ with Offset and His Beautiful Daughter Kalea

Alpha Industries, known for their popular MA-1 Flight Jackets, debuts a new production of mini-docs called the “Hero Series,” and the heritage brand is kicking things off with Migos member Offset and his young kin Kalea.

The theme for this ongoing inspirational video segment is to showcase heroism in all aspects of the word. Offset can most certainly claim the title of hero, having accomplished two Billboard No. 1 platinum selling albums (2017’s CULTURE and it’s one-year-later sequel CULTURE II released earlier this year), embarking on a Drake-assisted tour alongside Migos bandmates Takeoff and Quavo, winning the heart of fellow chart-topping MC Cardi B, and ultimately being part of the most successful rap group in the current Hip-Hop climate.

Watch the video above as Kiari Cephus (we dropping full governments out here!) details how not having his father around influences his current love as a dad for Kalea and his soon-to-be newborn with Cardi, in addition to how partnering with the American Cancer Society is a tribute to his grandmother who passed away from a curable cancer.

After checking out the video, check out the latest looks from Alpha Industries by heading over to the brand’s web store.

Prepare for a Beach Day With This ‘Sandy’ Air Max Plus Colorway

Consider it a perfect day for the beach when this sandy Air Max Plus colorway drops. Over the last two years, Nike has done well reintroducing and reimagining the Air Max legacy for a new generation, and this time is no different.

This latest Air Max Plus is consistent with the classic stylings of the original model. Dressed in a delicate tan, the signature Swoosh brand pattern carries across the upper, leading to the heel like wind carrying sand across the beach. Of course, no trip to the beach is complete without water, as this model features an ocean blue Swoosh for an extra seaside vibe. The hue is repeated throughout the tongue and insole, further complimenting the tan and white midsole to complete the look. Looking for a summer shoe? Boom.

While you may already be planning for a coastside vacation in this new Air Max release, the actual drop date has yet to be announced. However, these sneakers are expected to retail for $160 USD.

Stay tuned for more details as they become available. More pics below:
