Pyer Moss brought black pride, history, and beauty to his NYFW Show “American Also,” and we are so here for it.
Black Designer Kerby Jean-Raymond who trademark is being fashion forward in his collaboration with music artists, did not disappoint this fashion season. Opening with a full gospel choir who carried the show’s music from start to finish, they treated fans with songs that weren’t just soulful but had a message. From one refrain that took us straight to church belting, “There’s too many n****s in Rikers, to a soulful rendition of Kendrick Lamar’s, “We gon’ be alright”, the choir that was produced by Raphael Saadiq brought crowds to their feet.
Excited to share that I’ve been working with @kerbito on the show music for @pyermoss. If you can’t make it, watch it live tomorrow at 8:30pm EST at pyermoss.com Also, the show is produced by my lil homie @beyond8_

The purpose of “American Also” is to uncover the history that blacks were cowboys and how their contribution helped shape the American we know today. Delving in to how it was originally created as a derogatory term for men who couldn’t be called “men”, hence they were called cow “boys.”
“We are researching topics that make us feel included in the fabric of American society, so this is specifically focused on the American cowboy and how that started by being a black thing.” -Pyer Moss
Jean-Raymond fused these looks with Reebok collections that made something that truly stands out but definitely had a 90’s vibe. From outfits,to suits to track suits we could have easily been transported to the music video sets of Big Daddy Kane or The Fresh Prince or even most recently the Bruno Mars f/ Cardi B “Finesse” Video.. Every part of his show definitely showed melanin was poppin, which sometimes is a concept missed during fashion week.
We are honored to be part of the @pyermoss Fall 2018 collection. Thank you @kerbito for including us and @voguemagazine for such a great review – WE DIG! Link in bio. #crosscolours #pyermoss #blackexcellence #clothingwithoutprejudice

Re-introducing Pyer Moss. “The fact that a young talented black man like Jean-Raymond is successfully building a fashion brand on his own terms is perhaps the most powerful and positive message of all.” -Chioma Nnadi, Vogue Runway
